MAY

Unfortunately due to illness I’ve been advised by my Group Leaders to take some time away from committee meetings. However, I am still here answering emails and calls. I am also meeting with constituents when the need arises.

Important Meeting held in May

This month I met with parents/carers and other concerned constituents from Auldhouse regarding the upcoming cuts to school transport. This will mean kids from this area having to walk through heavily wooded routes that have no artificial or natural lighting. They will also be required to use many underpasses in East Kilbride but concerns have been raised due to some assaults in these area, including sexual assaults in broad daylight.

Having children as young as 11 walk these routes IS NOT SAFE. However, this Labour/LibDem council are still pressing ahead with damaging cuts to school transport. They have repeatedely been asked how much this is going to save them, but there is yet to be an answer. We know times are tough, and due to get tougher due to Labour’s damaging increase to employers NI, but our children SHOULD NOT bear the brunt of this. I, and my SNP colleagues, will fight tooth and nail to protect these vital services.
