OCTOBER

02/10/23 - Attended a meeting with Fibro Friends Lanarkshire who have now set up their very own constitution and working hard to raise awareness of this debilitating invisible illness.

15/10 - 17/10/23 - Attended the 89th Annual SNP Conference in Aberdeen. Many resolutions discussed and voted on. Some great news to come out of it is a freeze on council tax, £300million extra to cut NHS waiting times, and importantly, a clear direction on the SNP’s Independence strategy.

NOVEMBER

01/11/23 - Attended meeting of Full Council, astounded that the Provost wouldn’t allow an emergency motion regarding the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. Major news to come from this meeting - Labour/LibDem administration proposed a motion disavowing the freeze to council tax. This from Labour who consistently campaign against council tax rises. An amendment was proposed by the SNP group applauding the freeze to council tax but this was voted down by the unionist pact of Labour/LibDem/Tory and Independents.

15/11/23 - Attended rural task force meetings

20/11/23 - Meeting with Head of Social Care regarding the cuts to IJB budget and the potential closure of residential homes

25/11/23 - Attended performance of Alice in Wonderland put on by the fabulous TABS group. My daughter came along and was so impressed she is now putting in an application to join.

27/11/23 - Met with SNP MSP Mairi McAllan and other Clydesdale SNP Councillors regarding the IJB report.

27/11/23 - Attended the first public consultation of proposed closure of McClymont house Care home. A very emotional evening with lots of excellent points made by distressed relatives. I cannot support closing care homes without agreement by those most affected. See News & Updates for more.

28/11/23 - Attended the recent meeting of Strathaven Academy Parent Council. Looking forward to the upcoming Christmas Show.

29/11/23 - Attended meeting of Climate Change & sustainability committee.

30/11/23 - Attended Financial Resources Scrutiny Forum

DECEMBER

06/12/23 - Social Work Committee meeting highlighting the financial strain the service is facing due to high inflation and energy prices.

12/12/23 - IJB Meeting was held. Spoke about how disappointing the consultation was set up in the fact it was held in an open reception area, next to a loud Zumba class and the sound system was inadequate. Asked for an email to be sent to the families involved but this was ignored by Soumen Sengupta and Cllr Eileen Logan.

13/12/23 - Attended Strathaven Academy Christmas Concert. What an absolutely wonderful display from all pupils. Well done all.
